OMARC supports Firehouse pancake breakfast

Spring Lake Heights NJ – On Sunday morning July 9, 2017 at 7 AM to 12 noon, eight OMARC members assisted The Spring Lake Heights Independent Fire Company No. 1, at their monthly pancake breakfast fundraising event. The firehouse holds these fundraising pancake breakfasts every second Sunday during the Summer months. OMARC members arrived early to set up tables and chairs to fill the firehouse building (firetrucks were temporarily moved for the event). Our early riser / helpers were: Denis O’Brien, Matt Capozzoli, Bob Bedard, Joe Kruszewski, Bob Heater, Art Goldberg, Rich Fennessey and Bob Witham. A firehouse breakfast consists of all you can eat blueberry pancakes, sausage, real bacon, fruit juice and coffee. The pancakes were yummy, and the bacon was crisp, just the way I like it! During the breakfast, after the setup was complete, OMARC members performed some cleanup work out in the yard. We completely cleared the brush and vines that were overgrown in the corner of the yard where we store our antenna components. The neighbors should be happy that the vines and brush were also cleared off of their fences. It looks pretty neat and clear now. When the yard work and the breakfast ended, OMARC members assisted in removing and storing all the equipment. Special thanks go out to member Rich Fennessey, K2RLF, who purchased 10 breakfast tickets for the OMARC helper breakfasts, from the firehouse, at $6.00 each, even though staff are not required to pay for the breakfast. The firehouse staff did all the cooking and cashier work, with Casey Willms, president of the fire company, doing all the grill work. SO….mark your calendars for the next firehouse pancake breakfast on the second Sunday of the month, between 7 and 12, for a great breakfast and to help our friends at the firehouse.73,

Joe K.
